Move your site to a different host

Moving your site to a different host is a two-stage process. You export your content, them import it to the new host. Please note that these instructions are specific to moving a site from this highly customized platform. They will not be applicable to WordPress sites in general.

Export your content

Export pages and posts

  1. Go to : Dashboard > Tools > Export
  2. Select: All Content
  3. Click: [Download Export File]
  4. Make note of the file that is downloaded

Export theme customizer settings

  1. Go to: Dashboard > Appearance > Customize
  2. Click: Export/Import
  3. Click: [Export]
  4. Make note of the file that is downloaded

Export widgets

  1. Go to: Dashboard > Tools > Widget Importer & Exporter
  2. Click: [Export Widgets]
  3. Make note of the file that is downloaded

Import your content to your new host

You will need to:

  • Open an account at a web hosting company
  • Install WordPress
  • Install/activate Widget Importer & Exporter plugin from www.wordpress.org/plugins
  • Install/activate List Category Posts plugin from www.wordpress.org/plugins
  • Purchase/install/activate Beaver Builder Pro
  • Purchase/install/activate the Beaver Builder theme (included with Beaver Builder Pro)
  • Purchase/install/activate Beaver Themer

Import pages and posts

  1. Go to: Dashboard > Tools > Import
  2. Find “WordPress” at the bottom of the list
  3. Click: Install Now
  4. Click: Run Importer
  5. Choose the file from pages and posts export
  6. Click: [Upload and Import File]
  7. Select a user (or create a user) to assign to each post/page author
  8. Check: Download and import file attachments
  9. Click: [Submit]

Import theme customizer settings

  1. Go to: Dashboard > Appearance > Customize
  2. Click: Export/Import
  3. Click: [Install & Activate]
  4. Click: [Activate Plugin]
  5. Go to: Dashboard > Appearance > Customize
  6. Click: Export/Import
  7. Choose the file from theme customizer export
  8. Check: Download and import image files
  9. Click: [Import]
  10. Go to: Dashboard > Appearance > Customize
  11. Click: Settings > Home Page Settings
  12. Set: Your home page displays: A static page
  13. Set: Home page: Home
  14. Set: Posts page: Blog

Import Widgets

  1. Go to: Dashboard > Tools > Widget Importer & Exporter
  2. Choose the file from widget export
  3. Click: [Import Widgets]
